It appears that farm animals, namely those stuck in stables, are able to detect when an earthquake might occur, although there is no concrete scientific evidence to prove this. Regardless of whether or not this truly works, it relates to our current module on earthquakes since we just learned about early warning detection systems and the animals are essentially a much better early warning detection system - if it legitimately works. If the scientific community can come up with more conclusive evidence as to whether this is an efficient way to detect earthquakes, this could save a lot of lives if scientists were able to track the behavior of farm animals in high risk areas and report it to others.

According to this article, it is possible that some farm animals, specifically those in stables, might be able to predict earthquakes. There is no scientific proof of this yet, but the possibility of this being true has been around for millennia. Recently there has been research that shows that farm animals will get fidgety and start moving around a lot more and in general, get more excited before an earthquake appears. This article connects to our module because the module discussed how we can try to prevent/lessen the consequences of earthquakes. If it is true that farm animals can detect predict when an earthquake will happen, that would mean that scientists would have an accurate way of being able to predict when and where an earthquake will happen which can save tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of lives.
